There is no question that the displayed 1982 Pete Rose Philadelphia Phillies' game used bat will be a hit, a very big collecting hit, because the offered bat is all about hits: It has been signed not only by Rose (the all-time MLB hit king with 4,256), but by Hall of Famer Stan Musial, with the two lifetime National Leaguers combining for an amazing 7,886 hits. In his 24-year career, all in the National League, Rose broke Musial's previous record of 3,630 National league hits on August 10, 1981, before a capacity crowd at Veterans Stadium when Rose, a Philadelphia Phillie after playing most of his career to that point with the Cincinnati Reds, smacked hit number 3,631. Musial was on hand and ran out to first base to congratulate Rose when Pete singled to left field in the 8th inning. In fact, in the next season, 1982, Rose used the offered bat, a Mizuno Model Number 3631. Obviously, no coincidence, the Mizuno bat was given Model #3631 to match Rose's National League (and career) hit number 3,631, when he passed Musial. The displayed bat has a length of 34 inches and a weight of 32.7 ounces. The ash bat has a standard finish. It is uncracked and shows moderate use. A few ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right and left barrel. The handle has been scored approximately 12 inches to enhance the grip, and there is a light coat of pine tar on the handle. The length of the bat (34") is stamped into the knob. Rose's number (14) is written on the knob and top barrel in black marker. The Pete Rose signature is written on the barrel in black marker. The Stan Musial signature is written on the barrel in blue marker. The game used bat comes with a Cincinnati Memorabilia Co. LOA as to the bat, and the Pete Rose autograph, and this LOA signed by Pete Rose himself. The bat also comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (Cert. # 1B06144) for the bat and the Rose and Musial autographs.
