Beautiful 1969 Boston Red Sox jersey game worn by Tony Conigliaro. All original jersey is white with Red Sox across the button-front and number 25 on back, all in red-on-blue felt. McAuliffe tagging is in tail with year 69 and size 44; MLB 100th Anniversary patch is on left sleeve. Extensive wear likely represents use over the course of the full season and includes a small hole to the right of the bottom button and one on the bottom tail, and some bleeding from the blue felt looks to be present. Over his first four seasons, which includes the 1967 campaign, Tony C. blasted 104 homers, though the last year was shortened due to a horrific injury suffered when he was hit in the face by a pitch. This jersey dates from his amazing 1969 return; though he totaled 56 homers and 198 RBI over the first two years, he was clearly not the same player and eventually retired after attempting yet another comeback in 1975. Conigliaro passed away after a series of ailments in 1990 at the young age of 45.
