Displayed are three autographed Perez-Steele Celebration slabbed postcards: Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, and Ted Williams. Famed for their beautifully produced postcards featuring gorgeous artwork, Perez-Steele decided in the late 1980s to issue a set of cards with living Hall of Famers. A few Hall of Famers would not consent to having postcards produced featuring their likeness, but most did consent. Dick Perez is the artist who did the artwork on the postcards, and Frank Steele handled more of the business end of the operation. The gorgeous postcards measure 3.5x5.5", and collectors have noted that they are the perfect size for autographs. Each card has a watercolor portrait, done by Dick Perez, of the Hall of Famer on top, and a smaller action watercolor depiction of the player on the bottom of the card. Each of the three offered cards has been autographed by the depicted player in blue Sharpie. Perez Steele produced 15 series of these Hall of Fame postcards over the years (1980-2001). Each card was limited to a run of 10,000, and each of the offered postcards has both an individual number on back, and a copyright date of 1989. In total, the 15 series in the total Hall of Fame Perez-Steele postcards comprise 275 different cards, including 15 checklist cards and seven cards of non-players. Each of the three cards in the offering is machine stamped on back as "Celebration Set No. 02808/10,000." The included cards: 1) Hank Aaron (Card #1 printed on back) - The beautiful card shows Aaron in an Atlanta Braves uniform. The smaller action depiction appears to show Aaron's 715th home run, hit in Atlanta against the Los Angeles Dodgers' left-hander Al Downing. 2) Mickey Mantle (Card #28 on back) - shows a smiling, young Mantle portrait, and the action watercolor shows him batting left-handed 3) Ted Williams (Card #43 on back) - depicts a broadly smiling Williams in a portrait watercolor on top and the classic Williams follow-through, and his gaze to right-field, on a possible home run. Each of the three postcards has been PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO: Aaron (cert. #84990988), Mantle (cert. #84990985), Williams (cert.#84990982). The offered signed postcards are visually stunning, making the depicted player almost seem alive as the warm, smiling portraits and action rendering artwork make possessing the postcards a joy. The autographs push the cards to an even higher level.
