Displayed is a valued memento from the Brooklyn Dodgers' first, and only, World Championship - a "Working Press Pass" to games 3-4-5 of the 1955 World Series, at Ebbets Field, all of the Brooklyn home games in the Brooklyn Dodgers' first, and only, World Championship. The great post-World War II teams of the Dodgers won pennants in 1947, '49, '52, '53, '55, and '56, but most former Brooklyn players and the majority of baseball pundits feel that the strongest of those Dodgers teams was the '53 squad. By 1955, the Dodgers regulars were showing their age, but Roy Campanella had one last great season in him, and he was the National League MVP that year. Gil Hodges, Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Carl Furillo may have been past their peaks, but the team managed to win the pennant and finally beat the New York Yankees in the World Series, winning the '55 Series in seven games. The Yankees won the first two games of the '55 World Series, both at Yankee Stadium. Games 3, 4, and 5 of the Series, at Ebbets Field, were all Brooklyn victories. The Series moved back to Yankee Stadium, where the Yankees took Game 6, but the Dodgers rebounded, behind Johnny Podres, to shut-out the Yankees 2-0 to win the World's Championship. The Working Press Pass is shaped like a baseball mounted on a small platform, and it measures approx. 3x4.5". The pass reads, "1955 WORLD SERIES Ebbets Field - Brooklyn, N.Y./WORKING PRESS. The Dodgers/Upper Stand 14 A 9 Game 3-4-5-X Enter at Press Gate." The pass shows one punch hole. The pass has been encapsulated and PSA graded VG-EX 4.
