A mainstay of important Cuban baseball card issues. These fabulous cigarette cards were issued with “Aguilitas” a popular brand of Cuban cigarettes in the 1920s. The cards themselves are real photographs and are 2.5x1.5” with “Aguilitas” advertising on the versos. They feature magnificent photographic portraits of the Cuban baseball greats of the day with many important Latin and Negro League players leading the way: Marsans, Portuondo, Chacon, Fernandez, Fabre, Mirabal, Mesa, Hernandez, Calvo (2), Acostica, Estrada, Rios, Atan, Alvarez, Quintana, Rodriguez (3), Oms, Navarro, Jimenez, Puig, Dreke, Echarri, Torres, Zarza, Palmero, Blanco, Angel, Levis, Perez, Cabrera, Luque. The cards are in magnificent NRMT condition with the key Dreke card a blazer. Most importantly, these cards have literally dried up and are no longer found except when resold through collections in the States, which is virtually never. Hence, they are rare as Pop Lloyd’s teeth.
