Magnificent 1963 trophy comes from the high school career of Pittsburgh Steelers 4-time Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier, and is from his personal collection with signature. A bronzed football cleat is the centerpiece of the award, with a wood base measuring roughly 14x10.25x1", and a 4.5x3.5" plate engraved with, "Thom McAn Trophy - Rocky Bleier - Most Valuable Player - 1963 High School Football - Presented by the Sports Staff - Appleton Post Crescent." Modern era signature is in 10/10 silver paint pen on the base along with his uniform number 20. Some wear is evident to the base, piece remains in EX condition overall. Comes with the original form letter dated March 17, 1964, sent to Rocky by the Thom McCan Company explaining the award and scholarship that went with it. One of football's most inspirational stories, he returned from an injury suffered while serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War to be and integral part of a Pittsburgh Steelers dynasty that remains the stuff of NFL legend.
