Original glass plate negative picturing Detroit Tigers manager Hughie Jennings. This spectacular image captures the Hall of Fame manager in the classic pose he strikes whenever he bellows his signature "EE-YAH" cry. Although no information is provided with the negative, the outfield background and outlying buildings seen here clearly identify the local as Hill Top Park in New York, which was home to the Highlanders from 1903 to 1912. Jennings was manager of Detroit from 1907 to 1920, thereby dating the negative to the narrow six-year span 1907 to 1912. The negative (5x4") displays small areas of emulsion loss along the perimeter. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. (Please note: the positive image seen on our website is for illustrative purposes only and does not accompany the negative; only the negative is offered in this lot.)
