Portly and popular, John Kruk finished with a lifetime .300 batting average. Yet he began his big-league career with the 1986 San Diego Padres. Here's one of the home jerseys he wore that season, though it was subsequently passed down and another name patch affixed. There's a Wilson wash tag on the front tail, with size 42 tag attached. There's also a year "86" tag underneath, "RAK" monogram on the left sleeve for late owner Ray Kroc (interesting that Kroc and Kruk are so similar). Everything is original except the back nameplate and the "2" on the back. It has been photo-matched to Getty 2146125, and the YouTube video of 4/28/86 vs. the Cubs in which Kruk recorded his 6th career hit and first stolen base! A three-time All-Star, Kruk went on to enjoy his best seasons with Philadelphia, including the 1993 team that won the N.L. pennant.
