Rare 2001 Ohio State "Gold Pants" charm speaks to one of the great rivalries in all of sports. Charms of this nature are only awarded to players and coaches of the Buckeyes' football team, and it is only earned by defeating hated rival Michigan in that year's annual showdown. This particular charm was presented to cornerback Bobby Britton, with his initials on the thigh pads in front. The reverse has raised lettering highlighting that year's result: "2001 - Ohio 26 - Mich 20." Charm is 10k solid gold and about 1.25" tall by 0.5" across. The gridiron foes played their first ever game in 1897 and the Wolverines dominated the early years, losing just six times with two ties in the first 30 meetings. In 1934, a pair of local department store owners decided to add some incentive by offering "Gold Pants" awards for an OSU win, and the Buckeyes responded in exceptional fashion, winning by margins of 38-0 and 21-0 in the first two years in which these were issued, initiating a tradition that is still followed today. Shows some use, in EX-NM condition.
