Pair of Michael Jordan personally worn 1991 Nike Air Jordan VI sneakers, each signed by Jordan in black marker. These sneakers come with exceptional provenance. A member of our consignor's family purchased them at a silent auction while attending the Fifth Annual Benefit for the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Fund, held at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, on September 20, 1991, and they are accompanied by the original program from the event.

The 1991 Lynn Sage Cancer Research Fund Benefit was a prestigious charity event, with many high-end items donated for auction by local celebrities and organizations. Michael Jordan is listed as one of the donors in the program and these sneakers are one of two pairs he donated that night. (The approximate value of the shoes is listed as "Priceless.") Each of the white sneakers, with red trim, has been signed near the heel, on the outer side. Both signatures contrast beautifully against the white leather and grade 8/10 overall. In the program these shoes are titled "Michael Jordan's Shoes" and are described as "A pair of white game-worn Air Jordans by Nike autographed by Michael."

Despite that description, research indicates that Jordan never wore these particular Nike shoes during a game. However, we have found several photos of Jordan wearing this exact style shoe at the time (including in a McDonald's commercial) and have no doubt that they were worn by him. Each shoe (size 13) displays light-to-moderate wear, including a few light scuffs and blemishes. It must be noted; like all early Nike Air Jordan shoes, the colored foam material surrounding the base of the shoe has hardened over time and has become brittle. Each shoe has several cracks in the foam and the left shoe also displays a small chip on the outer side. Full LOA from PSA.
