Presented is a wonderful pairing of signed Hall of Fame Induction photos of two great New York centerfielders: Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. 1) An 8x9.75" black and white signed photo of Joe DiMaggio. Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack said that DiMaggio was "the best player who ever lived." Even long-time professional rival, Hall of Famer Ted Williams said, "Joe D. was the greatest all-around player I ever saw." One of baseball's most enduring records is "The Yankee Clipper's" consecutive game batting streak of 56 games, in 1941. In 1951, DiMaggio played center field for the Yankees while his usual right fielder was Mickey Mantle, the heir apparent in center field. "Joltin' Joe" signed the photo, using blue ink from a thin-tipped marker to sign in beautiful, large flowing script. 2) Mantle accomplished a near impossible feat: taking over a position from a baseball immortal (DiMaggio) and then becoming a baseball legend himself. With 536 home runs, Mantle hit more lifetime home runs than any other switch-hitter in Major League history. In the summer of '61, both Mantle and Roger Maris chased Babe Ruth's season record of 60 home runs, and a late season hip abscess kept Mantle from his own chance to beat the Babe's record. Mantle's 8x10" color photo features his signature, in blue ink from a marker, in his classically written, beautiful script, and Mantle has numbered the photo next to his signature by writing "287" out of an unknown number of photos. Both photos are in very good condition, and the pairing of DiMaggio and Mantle makes the combination a valued collectible.
