Presented is a ticket stub from the August 18, 1947, double-header at Ebbets Field, with the Dodgers hosting the St. Louis Cardinals, when Jackie Robinson, in his rookie season when he broke baseball's long standing "Color Line," hit his 9th home run of the season in the first inning of the first game. Robinson's blast, to left field, came with one out and the bases empty against St. Louis starter, and loser, Howie Pollet. Robinson finished the game with one hit in three at bats, with two runs scored, one RBI, and a walk as Brooklyn defeated St. Louis 7-5, with Vic Lombardi getting the win. But Robinson wasn't finished. In the second game of the double-header, he went 1-for-2, with two walks, a run, a RBI, a sacrifice bunt and a caught stealing. The Dodgers won 12-3. Robinson batted 297 in his first Major League season, and he led the National league in steals (29) and sacrifices (28). The ticket stub measures 1.25x2.9". The ticket is for the lower stand, at $1.75. The stub has been encapsulated and graded PSA EX 5 (MK).
