Four-page fold-over contract between Roy Campanella and the Brooklyn National League Baseball Club for the 1952 season, signed by each party. Roy Campanella Brooklyn Dodgers player contracts are scarce. This is the first we have offered and the only such example we have seen from 1952. The fully executed contract, which is dated January 10, 1952, has been flawlessly signed in black fountain pen by "Roy Campanella" (grading 10/10), in green fountain pen by Brooklyn Dodgers vice president "E. J. Bavasi" (10/10), and in blue fountain pen by National League President Warren Giles. (10/10) The one-year contract calls for Campanella to receive a salary of $24,000 for the season. Campanella batted .269 with 22 home runs and 97 RBI in 1952 to help lead the Dodgers to the National League pennant. A three-time National League MVP, Campanella's career was tragically cut short following an auto accident in the winter of 1957 that left him a quadriplegic. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1969. The contract (8.5x11"), which has Campanella's name and year written in pencil on the reverse, remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Full LOA from PSA.
