Original large-format Type I photograph of Joe Louis taken in 1948 by renowned LIFE magazine photographer Joe Scherschel. The photo captures the famed "Brown Bomber" as he sits on the front porch of his house. Scherschel's "LIFE photo" credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with the date stamp "Oct 16 1948" and a few additional labels and stampings. LIFE magazine featured a two-part story on the life of Joe Louis in November 1948, with Scherschel supplying the photos. The photo (10.5x13.25") displays a few tiny abrasions along the border area, and eight small pieces of masking tape affixed to the reverse. Full LOA from PSA certifying the photo as Type I Authentic.
