1903 W601 Sporting Life team composite of the National League Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. The piece features portrait images of eighteen team members, including Honus Wagner, team owner Barney Dreyfuss, player/manager Fred Clarke, Jack Chesbro, Tommy Leach, Deacon Phillippe, Chief Zimmer, Ginger Beaumont, and Sam Leever. This is the first example of a 1903 W601 Pittsburgh Pirates Sporting Life team composite we have ever offered, and we cannot recall the last time we have seen another. These team composites were available individually by purchase, or in a bound album. The offered piece was obtained through purchase because it does not feature any binding holes along the left border. The team composite (13x14") displays a small edge tear along the upper right border and a few light surface wrinkles. It has been been mounted, by means of two pieces of tape along the top reverse border, to a cardboard backing and matted to total dimensions of 16x17.5".
