An "American Baseball Cap" label, bearing a "7 1/8" size designation, is affixed to the interior. A "96" date code also appears on the interior. Griffey has flawlessly signed the helmet in silver paint pen (grading 10/10) on the brim. The helmet displays light-to-moderate use, including wear to the leather headband and a few minor scuffs to the exterior. 1998 was a banner season for Griffey. Playing in his tenth full season, the perennial All-Star slugger hit a career-high and league leading 56 home runs, totaled 146 RBI and batted .284. One of the greatest all-around players in baseball history, Griffey retired in 2010 with 630 home runs (7th all time), 1,836 RBI, a .284 lifetime average, and ten Gold Glove Awards.
