Having an item that was used in a Super Bowl is quite rare, and offered is the opportunity to possess a kick-off tee used in Super Bowl XV, played before 76,135 spectators at the Louisiana Superdome on January 25, 1981, as the conclusion of the 1980 season. The NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles were 3-point favorites, but the AFC Champion Oakland Raiders became the first-ever wildcard team to win a Super Bowl as they defeated Philadelphia 27-10. Oakland quarterback Jim Plunkett won the Super Bowl XV MVP as he completed 13 of 21 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions. Wide receiver Cliff Branch also starred for the Raiders as he caught five passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Ron Jaworski was the Eagles' quarterback, and he completed 18 of 38 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown, with three interceptions. Handling the kickoffs in the game were Chris Bahr for the Raiders and Tony Franklin for the Eagles. Hall of Famers for Oakland: Al Davis (owner/G.M.), Tom Flores (Head Coach) and players Cliff Branch, Ray Guy, Ted Hendricks, Art Shell, and Gene Upshaw. Hall of Famers for Philadelphia: Dick Vermeil (Head Coach), and players Harold Carmichael and Claude Humphrey. The kick-off tee is mounted on a presentational wooden plaque that measures 9x12", with a depth of 0.75". An approx. 3x5" presentational plate exhibits the following: "SUPER Jan.25, 1981/New Orleans/RAIDERS 27 EAGLES 10/Kim Peters/ NBC RIVERBOAT." The rubberized-like kick-off tee, attached to the plaque above the plate, is 3.8" across at its widest, 4.75" from front to back and 2.25" at its highest. The plaque has a few tiny spots where the veneer has come off. The kickoff tee shows great use, with some very small spots where the outer orange color has worn off, and other small spots in which dirt and/or white lime from the yardage markers remains.
