High-grade New York Yankees ticket stub issued for the final game of the season on October 1, 1961, in which Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth's longstanding single-season home run record. Graded VG 3 by PSA. Out of the sixty-three examples of this stub listed in the PSA Population Report, this is one of only three graded at this level, with just seven graded higher. The scarcity of ticket stubs from this game, especially high-grade examples, is not surprising when one considers that only 23,154 fans turned out that day to see if Maris could top Ruth's record. For those that did, including the original owner of this ticket, they did not have to wait long. Maris' record-breaking 61st home run came in the bottom of the fourth inning off Boston starter Tracy Stallard and was the lone run in the Yankees 1-0 victory. 2.75x1.5".
