Presented is a ticket stub from the 1952 World Series Game 1 at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn when the Dodgers hosted the New York Yankees in a Subway Series opener, and Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson hit his first-ever World Series home run. In a game before 34,861, Robinson played second base and batted clean-up. Robinson hit the first pitch thrown to him by Yankee starter Allie Reynolds as Jackie led off in the bottom of the second inning in the Brooklyn 4-2 win. Joe Black went the distance to get the Dodger win, and Reynolds took the loss. The Yankees won the Series in seven games. Although 1952 was only Robinson's sixth Major League season, because of the previous Color Line, Robinson did not begin his Major League career until 1947, when he was already 28 years old. He helped Brooklyn to six pennants and the Brooklyn Dodgers lone World Championship, in 1955. Robinson played his entire Major League career with Brooklyn and hit .311 lifetime. He was the 1947 Rookie of the Year and the 1949 National League MVP. The ticket stub measures 2.25x4.1", and it is for an $8.00 loge seat. The ticket stub has been encapsulated and graded PSA VG 3. The ticket stub makes a fine remembrance for Jackie Robinson, a marvelous ball player, and a pivotal personage in American civil rights history.
