One of the greatest catchers of all-time was named Lorenzo Pietro Berra, the son of immigrants from Italy living in St. Louis. Later, Lorenzo Pietro Berra became known as Laurence Peter Berra, with his first and middle names being Anglicized. Later on, a childhood friend thought Berra sat like a Yogi from India, called Berra "Yogi," and the nickname stuck. Presented is a single-signed baseball that Berra signed with his full name. Berra played with the New York Yankees from 1946-63, and briefly for the New York Mets in 1965. The Hall of Famer batted .285 for his career, with 358 home runs, 18 All-Star selections, and appearances with 10 World Series winning Yankee teams, winning more World Championships than any other player in history. It is very rare to find a baseball that Yogi signed as Laurence Peter Berra. Berra signed a Rawlings Official American League (Brown) Baseball. Yogi signed his full name signature on the sweet spot, writing in blue ink from a ballpoint pen. The baseball exhibits some slight darkening because of the passage of time, but the baseball is in overall excellent condition. The signature is 8/10. Any baseball signed by Berra makes a great addition to a sports collection, but a baseball signed by Berra with his full name is a special, valued rarity.
