Outstanding pair of rare game-used football items dating from the early 1900s: "Bumble Bee" style football jersey and pair of "slat" football pants. 1) "Bumble Bee" Jersey. The black-felt jersey features seven red stripes running down each shoulder/arm, which is the reason for its distinctive name. The number "13" appears on the front in red felt. A "Spalding" label appears on the interior right rear tail, with a "Pat. Applied For Front" tag affixed directly above the label. The jersey displays heavy wear, including a few small tears and repaired tears. Despite the wear, the jersey remains in excellent condition and is in much finer condition than these type jerseys are usually found. 2) "Slat" Football Pants. The unique aspect of these vintage pants are two sets of wooden slats sewn, respectively, within the fabric of the thigh areas. Padding is also sewn within the knee areas and each hip and backside area. After their use, they were obtained by a costume company, as noted by two separate stamps in the interior waistband that read "Seattle Costuming Co." The words "Property of" are written in black ink above each stamping. The pants display heavy wear commensurate with their age and former use, but there are no significant tears, making this an exceptional example of this rare style.
