Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth taking part in a Notre Dame football practice, circa 1920s, This is a famous image, reproduced countless times, but it is the first original Type I example we have ever handled. Ruth and Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne were friends and Ruth was always happy to help promote the school's football program by donning the football gear and taking part in a number of publicity photos, especially before big games. Ruth was obviously a big hit with the players, as can be seen by the many smiles on their faces as they watch Ruth take part in a line drill. No markings on the reverse. The photo (10x8") displays a few light surface wrinkles. Very Good to Excellent condition. Encapsulated by PSA as Type I Authentic.
