Original glass plate negative capturing Detroit Tigers pictures Harry Coveleski and Marc Hall. This is one of the most unusual baseball images we have ever seen, as both players are posing with a goat, which is standing on its hind legs. Harry Coveleski was the older brother of Hall of Fame pitcher Stan Coveleski, and while his lifetime numbers fall below that of his more well-known sibling, he enjoyed brief success at the Major League level. Harry won twenty or more games for three consecutive seasons with Detroit (1914-1916) before arm injuries basically ended his career (he made a few comeback attempts in the minors, without success). Both the name "Coveleski" and "Hall" are etched in the negative below their respective images. Although the negative is undated, Coveleski and Hall played together with Detroit only in 1914. The negative (5x4") has a production code etched along the right border, as well as a few tiny, scattered surface blemishes. Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archives. (Please note: the positive image seen on our website is for illustrative purposes only and does not accompany the negative; only the negative is offered in this lot.)
