1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle. Graded PSA PR 1. In terms of initial evaluation, this appears to be an outstanding example of Mantle's iconic rookie card. However, closer examination reveals the primary reason it received its technically accurate grade: two pairs of staple holes (each made from a single staple), one along the top border and the other along the bottom border. The card also displays a very light diagonal crease in the bottom right corner, light print lines, and honest corner wear. Still, it represents one of the most important postwar cards in the hobby and one would be hard pressed to find a more attractive example in this grade.
