Perry Como was known as "Mr. C," and he was one of entertainment's biggest stars. Offered is a single-signed and inscribed Official National League (Giles) baseball from Como to National League umpire Hal Dixon. A singer, actor and television personality, Como's records sold in the millions. He has the distinction of having three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for: radio, television, and music. His television work in hosting the widely popular Kraft Music Hall was superb, and in all he won five Emmy Awards and a Grammy. Some of Como's greatest hits: "Till the End of Time," "Papa Loves Mambo," "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes." Como was a widely popular personality who was talented enough to make his talents look easy. His winning charm and easy-going nature obscured the meticulous effort that he put into his efforts. Music critic Gene Lees commented about how Como's skills were often overlooked because Perry mastered so many details so that those details became automatic - without conscious effort. "Como got them [details] so well, so completely, that the muscles don't even show, said Lees. "It seems effortless." Como's entertaining career ran an amazing 65 years, from 1932-1997. Hal Dixon was a National League umpire from 1953-1959. He umpired in the 1957 All-Star Game, and in the 1959 World Series. On a panel of the ball, Como, writing in blue ink, personalized and signed the ball as "To Hal/Thanks Perry Como." The ball is in Excellent condition, and the Como signature is 7/10. The offered baseball is from the Hal Dixon Collection (with multiple lots in this auction). Comes with PSA LOA.
