Presented is a 7.25x9.75" Mickey Mantle signed Associated Press wirephoto showing Mickey blasting a 430 foot home run in a March 27, 1959, spring training exhibition game hosted by the New York Yankees in St. Petersburg, Florida. Hall of Famer Mantle's power is evident as the photo shows his beautiful swing and follow through. The text printed on the front of the photo reads, "St. Petersburg, Florida, March 27 - MANTLE BLASTS 430 FOOT HOMER - Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees is watching the flight of the ball over the center field fence as Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Smokey Burgess holds the empty glove. Pirates' pitcher George Witt had a no hitter going for 5 2/3 innings and two strikes on Mantle when the bomber (sic) settled the issue. AP WIREPHOTO 1959." In the '59 regular season, Mantle went on to bat .285, with 31 home runs. In 1960, the Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates met in the World Series. Mantle was amazing, as he hit .400 with three homers and a 1.345 OPS. The Pirates won the Series in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game 7 on Bill Mazeroski's iconic home run. The photo comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity for Mantle's signed photograph. Mantle's signature is in black ink and in his trademark neat, big and bold script.
