Presented is a unique, museum quality, and absolutely historic print of the once famed racetrack. It is an artist's proof presented by the artist. In large pencil, he wrote "To the President (August Belmont) and members of the American Jockey Club this picture is with special authorization respectively dedicated by L. Mercer." The artist also penned in ink, and signed the statement that it was presented to the Lotos Club in NYC. The famous organization, still in existence, was called the epitome of clubs by member Mark Twain.
The club in addition to a noted collection of American paintings, had an exhibition of paintings from famous impressionists including Monet, Renoir, and Cassatt.
The picture is beautifully framed, in superb condition. Overall it is 40 1/2 L " X 30 ½" W.
