Presented is a game worn Charles Young Philadelphia Eagles jersey from between 1973 and 76, when the tight end played for the Eagles. Young was drafted out of the University of Southern California with Philadelphia's first round pick in the 1973 NFL draft. Charles started at tight end in his first season, and he caught 55 passes for 854 yards and six touchdowns, and he was named the NFL Rookie of the Year. He played the next three years for Philadelphia, starting every game in those four seasons, and catching a total of 197 passes for 2,583 yards and 12 touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl in 1973-75. After leaving the Eagles, Young played nine more NFL seasons, with the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks, and he totaled 418 catches for 5,106 yards and 27 touchdowns. He was in Super Bowl XIV with Los Angeles, and Young helped the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl XVII against the Dallas Cowboys when he made a key reception that helped sustain an 89-yard drive that led to Dwight Clark's reception, known as "The Catch", that won the game for the 49ers. The front of the jersey has "86" sewn on - in white numerals with black trim. Each sleeve has an "86" sewn on, in white numerals with black trim. On the back, "C.Young" is screened in white on a green nameplate. There are two Pearson Sand-Knit tags on the front outside tail, the top tag giving manufacturing identity and the second tag showing size, with "XX Large (50-52)". The jersey shows great use, with some loose threads and a few tiny holes in the mesh jersey, with at least eight team repairs, one repair being a very large one - at the right arm area.
