Towards the end of Babe Ruth's life, he was a "consultant" for the Ford Motor Company, a key sponsor of American Legion Junior Baseball. Shortly before Ruth's death in 1947, he attended the American Legion Junior World Series in Iowa as part of his duties for the Ford Motor Company. The offered promotional photo itself measures 4.5x5.5," and with its apparently light card stock backing, measures 5x7." Below the photo, almost as a calling card would have, is "CONSULTANT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AMERICAN LEGION JUNIOR BASEBALL." The photo, taken in an unknown stadium, has Ruth is wearing his New York Yankee away uniform. The photo shows Ruth's beautiful, high follow through after hitting a pitch. From how Ruth gazes up high towards right field, it is most likely the split second after he has launched one of his 714 home runs. The photo shows some discoloration and Scotch Tape has been placed on both sides and on the bottom of the photo on the front side, and on all four sides on the photo back, most likely the result of the photo being at one time in a photo album. There is a small rip and paper loss at the top, and various marks from creasing and staining. Ruth's signature, atop the photo, is as bold as ever and is clearly written, in pen. The photo has been encapsulated, and the autograph has been certified by PSA/DNA as AUTHENTIC.
