Offered are two Sporting News Supplement photos. 1) August 26, 1908, black and white (7.5x10") photo of Sherry Magee of the 1909 Philadelphia Phillies National League team. Magee was an outfielder and first baseman. He played 16 years in the National League, 11 of those seasons with Philadelphia. In the season after this photo appeared, Magee hit .331 for Philadelphia to league the NL. 2) November 13, 1913, black and white photo (8x9.75") of Philadelphia Phillie Hans Lobert, a third baseman and shortstop. Lobert played 14 years, all in the National League, with five teams. Lobert was a very fast player who stole 316 bases. Possessed of a rather prominent nose, Lobert was a jovial player, well-liked by teammates, opponents, and fans. His great speed resulted in his being matched against a horse in a race around the bases in a special promotion at a game. As the colorful Lobert told it, it was a race that was neck-and-neck, but, said Hans, "I won by a nose." Each of the photos shows some darkening because of age. The Magee photo exhibits some very minor creasing, and the Lobert photo shows some wear at the top right corner. Considering that the photos are over a century old, they are in excellent condition.
