Displayed is a signed helmet from the 2007 New York Giants, the underdog victors over the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, played on Feb.3, 2008 at the University of Phoenix Stadium. The Patriots came into the game with an 18-0 record, including playoff games. The Giants were 10-6 in the regular season, and then, as a wildcard team, won three straight away games to reach the Super Bowl. In that championship contest, the Giants trailed with only 2:40 on the clock in the 4th quarter and with the ball on their own 17 yard line and trailing 14-10. Quarterback Eli Manning drove the Giants down the field, once escaping a seemingly sure sack by three Patriots to hit wide receiver David Tyree with a 32-yard pass, one in which wide receiver Tyree caught the ball by pressing it against his helmet. This "Helmet Catch" was called by NFL Films' Steve Sabol as,"...the greatest play the Super Bowl has ever produced." The Giants took the lead for good on a Manning to Plaxico Burress touchdown pass and won 17-14. There are 28+ New York Giant signatures on the helmet, all in  in silver marker: Eli Manning, Michael Strahan (HOF), Plaxico Burress, Brandon Jacobs, Tom Coughlin (Head Coach), Chris Snee, Shaun O'Hara, Ahmad Bradshaw, Rich Seubert, David Diehl, Madison Hedgecock, Antonio Pierce, Steve Spagnuolo (Defensive Coordinator), Zak DeOssie, Kevin Boss, Chase Blackburn, Justin Tuck, Steve Smith, plus more. The signed New York Giants helmet, in excellent condition, is a wonderful memento of one of the greatest of Super bowl upsets.
