Presented is the program for the 1939 Baseball All-Star Game signed by 13: Mel Ott (HOF), Arky Vaughan (HOF), Billy Herman (HOF), Joe "Ducky" Medwick (HOF), Leo Durocher, (HOF manager) Johnny Vander Meer, Ernie Lombardi (HOF), Stan Hack, Frank McCormick, and more. The contest was played on July 6th at Cincinnati's Crosley Field, home of the Reds. The National League won 4-1. Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio scored the only run for the American League team, and Joe Cronin had the only American League RBI. Joe Medwick and Ernie Lombardi had the only RBIs for the National League, with runs scored by Ott, McCormick, Hack, and Durocher. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Vander Meer had the win, and the New York Yankee Lefty Gomez took the loss. The 1938 game was only the sixth MLB All-Star game, as the All-Star games only began in 1933. The (6.25x9.25") program contains detailed rosters, and also has numerous stories and photos in its 24 pages. It contains a scorecard that is unscored. The signatures average 7/10. The program shows some fading of colors and some tiny paper loss and two rusty staples along the stapled edge, but overall, the program is in very good to excellent condition.
