1933 Goudey Baseball #144 Babe Ruth. Graded GD 2 by SGC. This is one of four Ruth cards in the 1933 Goudey set and the one considered by nearly all collectors as the most attractive of the quartet. The grading standards for cards today, as most know, is quite stringent, but cards should not be defined solely by their numeric designation. This card is a perfect case in point. While the grade is technically accurate due to a number of flaws, including rounded corners, light creasing and a light pencil notation on the reverse, most of the condition anomalies are only apparent upon close inspection. The card is fairly well centered, with bright colors, and displays at a higher level than one would expect from a typical "2." As such, it will appeal to a wide range of collectors wishing to acquire an aesthetically appealing example of this iconic card, but without having to pay an amount equivalent to what a higher-graded card would command at auction.
