Original Type I photograph capturing Marilyn Monroe shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth II of England. This historic meeting took place at the London premier of The Battle of River Plate in Leicester Square on October 29, 1956. Monroe was in London with her husband, the acclaimed playwright Arthur Miller, for the filming of her latest movie, The Prince and the Showgirl, but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to attend the premier and meet the Queen. Although this is an iconic image and one that has been reproduced in countless publications, it is the first original example we have ever offered. A Brown Brothers credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with both Monroe's and the Queen's name written in pencil. The photo (8x10") displays light creasing along the corner and border areas, but is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
