Many landmark accomplishments went into the building of Big Mac’s enormous image. One of those landmarks is this ONL (Coleman) baseball, hit for McGwire’s 44th home run. On the way to his record breaking 70 home run season in ’98, McGwire shattered many other club records, as well as ML records. One of those St. Louis Cardinals records was 43 single season home runs, which Mac achieved with this ball, on July 26, 1998. Big Mac aggressively attacked the first pitch he saw - a fastball from John Thomson of the Colorado Rockies. This is notably one of the toughest baseballs from McGwire out there as it is signed, noted as homerun #44, and dated! This is the only one of its kind as McGwire did not sign and note any others. Sweet spot signature is inscribed to the fan who caught it: “To Jerry Arvoy HR #44 7/26/98 Mark McGwire Stl. 25”. Ball shows light use, o/w NRMT. One of the most important acquisitions for any home run ball collection.
