2006 Boston Red Sox road jersey worn by David Ortiz, the most recent inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. This jersey comes with the special provenance of originating from the personal collection of former Major League relief pitcher Felix Rodriguez (1995-2006). Rodriguez, like Ortiz, hails from the Dominican Republic and the two were close friends during their playing days, even though they we were never teammates during the course of their long careers. Rodriguez ended his career in 2006 and "Big Papi" presented this jersey to him as a retirement gift that year. Ortiz has inscribed the jersey in black ink (grading 8/10) on the reverse: "Para mi hermano/Felix Rodriguez de su/hermano/David Ortiz - God Bless You." (Translation: for my brother Felix Rodriguez from his brother.) The jersey is also accompanied by a one-page typed letter signed by Felix Rodriguez attesting to the jersey's provenance.

The gray knit jersey is lettered "Boston" across the front and features the number "34" on the reverse. "Ortiz" is lettered upon a gray nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in red on navy tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Majestic" label and a white strip tag displaying the uniform number, size, and year ("34 54 06") in black embroidery. The jersey is all original and displays moderate wear. Ortiz enjoyed what was arguably the finest all-around season of his career in 2006, hitting a career and league-high 54 home runs. That number, coupled with his league-leading totals in both RBI (137) and bases on balls (119), later earned him a third-place finish in the MVP balloting at season's end. One of the greatest sluggers of his era, Ortiz finished his twenty-year career with 541 home runs, 1,768 RBI, and a .286 lifetime average. Accompanied by a full LOA from MEARS (Grade: A10), a letter of provenance from Felix Rodriguez, and a former JSA auction LOA (from a different auction house).
