Tyrus Cobb was particularly adept at two skills - playing baseball and making money. How fitting to have this offering involve a signed check from a baseball immortal. An inaugural inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cobb was a superstar of the dead-ball era. The Detroit Tiger legend hit .367 lifetime, was a 12-time AL batting champion and stole 897 bases. As for accumulating wealth, Cobb seemed to like "local" companies for his investments. A Georgia native, Cobb invested early on in Atlanta, Georgia based Coca-Cola, and made a fortune. He made another fortune with his Detroit connection, investing in General Motors, and the Detroit automobile manufacturer also became a bonanza for Cobb. Although some of the writing on Cobb's check is indistinct, the amount of $97.79 is made out a utility company named Pacific. The check becomes even more valuable as it is signed in Cobb's trademark green ink. At the top of the display is a 7.25x9.5" striking colorized photo of Cobb in his Detroit Tiger uniform. At the bottom of the display is a small plaque that states that Cobb "Led the American League in batting 12 times and created or equaled more major league records than any other player." Matted and framed, the display measures 13.75x22.75". Cobb's signature is 8/10. Comes with PSA LOA.
