Presented is a press pin from the 1912 World Series. The pin comes in the super rare original Brady, Banks, and Biddle Co. box. This small, light cardboard box measures 1.38x1.38". The pin features a red rim around a gold-colored center that shows a Boston skyline. The pin is 0.8125" in diameter, and it reads, "World Series 1912 Red Sox". The pin would be NM-MT if not for some tarnishing on the back. In the 1912 Series, Boston defeated HOF manager John McGraw's New York Giants by 4 games to 3, with 1 tie. Red Sox HOF hurler Smokey Joe Wood went 3-1, while HOF pitcher Christy Mathewson uncharacteristically was 0-2 for the Giants. Almost all of the games were close, and there were many controversial decisions, making this a particularly memorable World Series. Although a technicality, the pin actually represents a memento from the first time a team called the Boston Red Sox won a World Series. It was still the same franchise, but when the Boston team won its first World Series in 1903, the team was called the Boston Americans. The pin is a valued historical tie to events of nearly 110 years ago.
