1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Emerald #97 Karl Malone is one of, if not THE, most coveted card in the Hall of Famer's catalogue, but there's even more to this one-of-a-kind specimen. According to Beckett, the '97-98 Precious Metal Gems parallel inserts are so popular that, "... outside of autographs, these are some of the most coveted post-war sports cards, period." While the popular power forward's card is #97 in the 125-card series, each card (except for checklists) is numbered as a limited edition of just 1-100; as a bonus, only the first 10 are of the Emerald variety while the remainder are red. Not only is this numbered 1/100 - the very first to come off the line - but this bears a strong BGS 7.5 NEAR MINT+ overall grade, with subs of: Centering 9.5, Corners 8, Edges 6.5, and Surface 7.5. The Mailman delivered 14 NBA All-Star appearances and was a member of the NBA's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team in his 19 NBA campaigns, all but the final (with the LA Lakers) played in Utah with the Jazz.
