Frank Sinatra was a real boxing aficionado. Displayed is an 8x10" black and white photo of "Old Blue Eyes" getting a rubdown at famous Stillman's Gym in New York City, circa 1947. The autographed photo is encapsulated and authenticated PSA/DNA Certified Authentic. Sinatra's father, Antonio Martino Sinatra, was known to be a professional firefighter, but he was also a former professional boxer who fought, for a number of years, out of Hoboken, New Jersey. Frank was often at ringside at big fights, and he even owned a piece of heavyweight contender Tami Mauriello. When Muhammed Ali fought Joe Frazier for the World Heavyweight Championship in "The Fight of the Century" on March 8, 1971, Sinatra even had an official press pass for the fight and brought a camera, taking a photo of the fight that appeared on the front cover of the next Look Magazine. Sinatra was also known to have given generously to Joe Louis when the boxing champ fell on financially hard times. The photo is in EX-MT to NM-MT condition. Sinatra autographed the photo in a boldly written signature with a black pen. The signature appears to be 8/10 in strength. The signed photo represents an unusual combination: The great crooner and his interest in the sweet science.
