St. Louis Cardinals jersey worn by outfielder Bob Skinner during the club's 1964 World Championship season. The white flannel jersey features the name "Cardinals" embroidered on the front within the design of the club's logo (two birds perched on either end of a bat). The number "19" appears on the left breast and reverse. "Skinner" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in red on navy felt. Located on the left front tail is a "Rawlings size 44" label, below which is the player's name and year ("Skinner 64") chain-stitched in red. A laundry tag appears on the interior left front tail. The numbers on the front and reverse, and the name on the reverse, have all been restored. Additionally, a large section of material on both the front and reverse, which connect to the right sleeve, has been replaced. Heavy wear is displayed throughout, including numerous team repairs to small tears on the front and reverse. This jersey was obviously sent down for use in the minors following the 1964 season, at which time, presumably, most of the repairs were made. Skinner, who was also a member of the Pirates' 1960 World Championship team, appeared in 55 games for the Cardinals in 1964. He finished the year with 1 home run, 16 RBI, and .271 average. Skinner retired in 1966 with 103 home runs, 531 RBI, and .277 batting average.
