Circa 1980s Utah Jazz home jersey worn by center Mark Eaton. The white-mesh jersey displays the team name, "Jazz" across the front, and the number 53 on the front and reverse. "Eaton" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All front lettering and numerals are screened in purple, while all reverse lettering is applied in purple tackle twill. Located on the left front tail are a "Powers Mfg. Co. Size 50" label, atop which is a second Powers label denoting an extra 5" jersey length. Eaton has signed the jersey "Mark Eaton 53" in black marker (8/10) on the front, just below the lettering. Standing seven feet four inches in height, and weighing 290 pounds, Eaton was an intimidating presence on the hardwood for 11 seasons (1982-1993), all of which were spent with Utah. An extremely durable player, (he only missed seven games during his first 10 seasons), Eaton won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award two times. He also led the NBA in blocked shots on four separate occasions. In 1996 the Utah Jazz retired his number 53 and he is currently one of only eight Jazz players to have received that special honor. The jersey displays excellent use, including a few tiny stains near the base of the front.
