Amazing original letter in the hand of baseball immortal Ty Cobb. On 6x9" stationery from Hotel Aragon in Atlanta, Cobb's handwriting covers all three pages; paper is toned and fragile with brittle areas from the mailing folds and the bottom of the third and final page missing, though there are a few cuts from the missing piece including The Georgia Peach's signature and initials. Sent to our consignor's grandfather, contents include that Cobb was in town to be presented with a special watch (which he notes is worth $225, "not so bad, eh?"), and lamenting that he was expected to give a speech, "... which is going to be hard to do as I am no speaker, as you should know." Great personal touch from one of baseball's all-time great hitters. Although no year is listed, the Hotel Aragon was in existence from 1892 to 1930, which helps helps to more narrowly date the letter to Cobb's playing career or just shortly after (Cobb retired in 1928). PSA has individually encapsulated each page of the letter, as well as each of the two cut Cobb signatures, with all certified as "Authentic."
