The 1983 NCAA basketball tournament Semi-Finals and Finals took place at "The Pit," the nickname for University Arena on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque. North Carolina State, coached by Jimmy Valvano, was a big underdog to Houston, coached by Guy Lewis. The score was tied as time was running out in the second half when North Carolina Wolfpack's Dereck Wittenburg took a buzzer-beating 30-foot shot at the basket. The Wolfpack's Lorenzo Charles dunked the rebound to just beat the buzzer and give North Carolina State a 54-52 victory in one of the most famous NCAA finishes in history. Footage of the Charles dunk and of the Wolfpack's coach, Jimmy Valvano deliriously running around on the court are still repeatedly shown every year at NCAA Tournament time. The game is sometimes referred to as "The Miracle Jimmy V Game." The two unused full panel tickets are for the same seat, in the same section, and the tickets were probably given to a student and never used.
