Full proof ticket issued for the heavyweight bout between Rocky Marciano and Joe Louis at the Polo Grounds in New York on October 11, 1951. (The fight actually took place at Madison Square Garden on October 26, 1951.) Graded EX 5 by PSA. This is one of only two full proof tickets to this fight listed in the PSA Population Report and it represents the highest graded example (the other is graded VG-EX 4). This was Joe Louis' last professional fight. At 37 years old he was on the comeback trail, while Marciano, at the age of 28, was emerging as a top contender for the heavyweight title. Marciano was the underdog in the fight, but Louis' experience proved no match for Marciano's power as the fight ended with a Marciano TKO in the eighth after Louis was knocked through the ropes.
