Zeke Bonura H&B signature-model bat (predating model numbers) dating from the 1935 season. This bat features side writing on the barrel that indicates it was sent back to the H&B factory by Jimmy Dykes, therefore it may have been used by both players at some point during that season. The bat, which measures 34.5" in length and weighs 36 ounces, displays evidence of outstanding use, including moderate checking (grain separation) on the barrel, an approximate 8" crack in the handle, pine tar on the handle, and an outline of the former piece of tape that was once applied to repair the crack. Although not all the side writing is legible, one can easily read the name "Jimmy Dykes" and the date "8-5-35."

Bonura and Dykes were teammates on the Chicago White Sox in 1935. Bonura, who was in just his second season in the Majors, was the club's starting first baseman. Dykes, a Major League veteran of 17 years, was serving his second season as player/manager of the White Sox. Both enjoyed solid years at the plate in 1935. Bonura batted .295 with 21 home runs and 92 RBI, while Dykes finished the year with 4 home runs, 61 RBI, and a .288 average. Dykes was a key member of Connie Mack's 1929-1931 A's World Championship dynasty and he continued managing through the 1961 season. Bonura's career was shorter, lasting only seven seasons (1934-1940) because of the time he spent in the army during World War II. A MEARS hologram label (#310958) is affixed to the head of the barrel, but no corresponding LOA accompanies the bat.
