Original glass plate negative picturing A's pitching ace Eddie Plank posing with Giants second baseman Larry Doyle prior to a 1911 World Series game at the Polo Grounds. The Giants unveiled a special all-black uniform for the 1911 fall classic, which Doyle is wearing here, thereby precisely pinpointing the year. The last name of each player is etched into the negative directly above his respective image. The A's defeated the Giants in six games to capture their second consecutive World Championship. The negative (7x5”) displays minor flaws, mainly along the periphery, but the central image is largely unaffected. VG. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
