Original glass plate negative capturing twelve members of the New York Highlanders’ pitching staff posing together during spring training, circa 1911. The players are lined up, shoulder-to-shoulder as they put their best arms forward. The last name of each player has been etched onto the negative, directly below his image. Some of the names are only partially spelled out due to the limited space available. The names read, left to right, Bur, McGraw, Ables, Vau [Vaughn], Brock [Brockett], Ford, Cald [Caldwell], Fisher, Syk, Quinn, Rey, and War [Warhop]. The negative (7x5”) displays minor flaws, mainly along the periphery, but the central image is largely unaffected. VG. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
