Original Type I photograph of Babe Ruth as a member of the New York Yankees. During his lifetime, Babe Ruth bowed down to very few men, but one who commanded such respect from the “Bambino” was Cardinal Patrick O’Donnell, Prelate of Ireland. This extraordinary photo captures that moment as Ruth bends down on his knees and kisses the Cardinal’s ring at a game in Chicago. A Brown Brothers label and credit stamp appear on the reverse, along with handwritten editorial notations and a clipping from a magazine that featured this very image. According to the handwritten text on the reverse, this photo appeared in print on July 17, 1926. One of the most unusual Ruth photos we have seen. The photo measures 8.25x6.5" and displays a tack hole in each corner, light editorial outlining, tiny border tears, and light creasing. VG. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
