Original Type I photograph capturing a 1912 World Series game in progress at the Polo Grounds. Taken from the perspective of the centerfield grandstand, the view encompasses the left side of the field and half of the ballpark. Although no markings or stampings identify this as a 1912 World Series game (the only writing on the reverse reads “Professional Baseball Game”), one can easily read the scoreboard along the left field grandstand that lists the teams and battery. The respective batteries are Woods/Cady for the Red Sox and Tesreau/Meyers for the Giants, which would indicate that this is either Game 1 or Game 4 of the Series (Woods bested Tesreau in both games). Boston ultimately defeated the Giants in eight games (one game ended in a tie) to capture their first of four World Championships during the decade. The photo measures 7x5” and displays a few light surface wrinkles. VG-EX. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
